Run Fast at Any Age

The old saying ‘use it or lose it’ could not be further from the truth when it comes to athletic fitness. Too often, we hear non-athletic folks lament the deterioration of their bodies.  As we age it becomes increasingly important to work to build muscle and cardiovascular endurance to stay healthy and strong.  The benefits from regular, consistent exercise (no matter what mode you choose) are far reaching. Benefits can range from maintaining a healthful weight, preventing disease and being able to get into your favorite jeans to increased creativity, reduced stress and boundless confidence. No matter what your age, you can benefit from regular exercise and yes, you can get faster!

Elaine & Selly

Last weekend at the Devil Mountain 5k in Danville, CA, Elaine Morison, crossed the finish line in 25:42. Elaine’s time, her best of the year, placed her on the podium in 3rd place for the women’s 50-54 age group.  Elaine is a California Highway Patrol officer who manages to fit in time for work, her husband and makes double use of her time training with pooch, Selly.  Currently training to qualify for the ITU Sprint Triathlon World Championships, Elaine is using 5k events to train her speed, pacing and confidence.  She shows that you can indeed run (or tri) fast at any age. Way to go Elaine!
